The Division of Air and Waste Management is a lead agency for responding to releases of chemicals to the land, water or air that would threaten human health or the environment, like a chemical spill or a fire in an industrial facility. We also provide:
- Expertise on how to prevent industrial accidents;
- Information to other response agencies, like fire departments, on what chemicals they will encounter at an industrial facility, and how to handle them; and
- Investigation on the causes of accidents.
