DNREC held a series of open educational forums in 2006 to help the public understand the results of the Delaware Air Toxics Assessment Study (DATAS). (Read the DATAS brochure.)
The DATAS report measured air toxics in locations throughout Delaware. (Read the full DATAS Report.) The results and the human health risks from exposure to air toxics were presented at the forums, which were held at numerous locations in the state. The forums featured exhibits and the opportunity to hear details of the DATAS Report from expert scientists and educators.
The second phase of the DATAS project, to be completed this year, will include air dispersion modeling and an assessment of potential risks to human health statewide.

Funding for the DATAS outreach and education is made possible by the Delaware Cancer Consortium. DNREC received significant technical advice from the Department of Health and Social Services’ Division of Public Health to complete the human health risk assessments for this study.
